Equipment

We have a variety of other equipment, used on a daily basis, allowing us to treat and diagnose your pet's illness.

  ANESTHETIC MACHINES

We have four ANESTHETIC MACHINES available, all equiped with two types of inhaled anesthetics. Sevoflurane - provides the safest and quickest recovery. It is used on pediatrics; geriatrics; critical care patients; cardiac patients; exotics and is available for any anesthetic procedure. Isoflurane - is a general purpose and safe anesthetic..

  PULSE OXIMETERS

To monitor and measure your pet's oxygen levels, oxygen saturation levels and heart rate we have four PULSE OXIMETERS. These pulse oximeters are used on every anesthetic procedure and to monitor critically ill patients. They provide important data for our Doctors and Registered Animal Health Technologists.

  DENTAL STATION

In order to provide your pet with proper oral care, we have a DENTAL STATION by FOREST. The Dental Station is equipped with an ultrasonic scaler, a high speed hand drill, a prophy hand piece and a water/air handpiece. This equipment is very similar to that used by your own dentist. We are able to perform ultrasonic dental scaling, polishing and many types of restorative work (such as fillings, pulp caps, root canals, extractions etc.). We are also equipped with a large variety of hand held instuments & restorative equipment.

  X-RAY EQUIPMENT

We have two types of X-Ray equipment, providing us with a broad range of radiographic capability. The smaller unit is a specialized DENTAL X-RAY MACHINE used during dental procedures and for smaller studies. The other is our larger 300ma UNIVERSAL X-RAY UNIT, providing us with fast, detailed full body x-rays.

  FIBRE OPTIC MEDRX

For advanced and thorough ear examinations, ear flushes/cleanings and many other surgical procedures (opthalmic, orthopedic, dental surgeries, and endoscopic procedures) we use one of our two FIBRE OPTIC MEDRX machines.

  ELLMAN

During certain procedures we use the ELLMAN unit, which is an electro magnetic surgical unit. This allows us to perform safer surgeries by minimizing bleeding.

  EKG

We have 2 EKG machines. Our portable hand held VET BIOLOG machine allows us to obtain an instant heart rate and EKG trace on the screen with direct contact electrodes or allows for 6 lead EKG trace with the leads. This reading can be viewed on the screen for instant & continual monitoring as well it can be printed for use in telemedicine. An EKG is important as it allows the Doctors & R.A.H.T.'s to monitor the heartrate, and the elecrical rythym of your pets heart before, during and after anesthetic; and during many other instances that cardiac monitoring or evaluation is necessary.

  OPHTHALMIC EQUIPMENT

We use various ophthalmic equipment to check and monitor the health of your pets eyes . For general eye exams we use an OPTHALMOSCOPE. To check occular pressure, we use either the TOPOPEN or the SCHIOETZ TONOMETER. Having this information quickly allows us better treatment for you pet, and often enables us to safeguard your pets vision.

  BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING

As it is important to be able to closely check the blood pressure of animals with suspected high blood pressure, kidney disease patients, and emergency care patients, we have two different ways of monitoring blood pressure. The MEMOPRINT OSCILLOMETRIC blood pressure measurement system (giving us a digital printout of your pets heart rate & bloodpressure), as well as the PARKS DOPPLER UNIT (similar method used on humans).

BLOOD SCREENING EQUIPMENT

In order to provide you and your pets with fast, accurate, and state of the art in-house lab blood screening we have four different blood analyzers. Each analyzer serves a different but valuable purpose.
a. ALFA WASSERMAN (chemistry)
b. IDEXX LaserCyte (hematology)
c. SCA (coagulation analysis for clotting studies)
d. HESKA I STAT (for emergency blood analysis)
e. IDEXX (chemistry, specialized tests: thyroid, Feline leukemia, heartworm, cortisol & many others)

  MICROSCOPES

We have two different MICROSCOPES used for microscopic exams of tissue biopsies, urine samples, blood samples, fecal analysis and needle aspirates.
a. Binocular - for exams
b. Trinocular - for digital images telemedicine referals

  INCUBATOR

We have an INCUBATOR used for culture and sensitivity testing of some samples for bacterial evaluation. Knowing what is causing the illness, allows for better and faster treatment.

  I.V. PUMPS

We have several I.V. PUMPS for safe intravenous fluid regulation and medication dosages. Using these pumps allows us to ensure that the proper amount of fluids and medications are administered to your pet 24 hours a day. They have built in alarm systems that alerts our R.A.H.T.'s & Doctors if the flow has stopped or when fluid levels are getting low.

  AUTOCLAVE

We use a steam AUTOCLAVE for the sterilization of all surgical equipment & dental equipment.

LASER EQUIPMENT

There are many advantages to using CO2 laser for surgical procedures. It is used during procedures such as: declaws, lumpectomies, eye surgeries. For more information on our CO2 laser, click here.

ENDOSCOPE

We have three different sizes of scopes. The size used depends on the procedure involved and the size of your pet. Using a scope, in many cases, allows us to remove foreign objects, obtain biopsy samples & view internal passages of your pet without having to do a major surgery. For more information on endoscopic equipment, click here.

SURGICAL EQUIPMENT

Our SURGICAL EQUIPMENT includes a complete array of general surgical instruments, orthopedic instruments and power equipment and implant materials (plates/external fixators/IM pins/screws/wires and other implant materials).
